This year, E.ON is making an investment of SEK 16 million in Kungsbacka municipality’s electricity network infrastructure.

– We strive for a powerful and resilient energy system, which supports the transition to fossil-free energy, promotes new companies and contributes to the municipality’s development, says Peter Hjalmar, regional manager south, E.ON.

The financial investment is aimed at preparing the electricity network for a future where electricity becomes increasingly important and dependence on fossil fuels decreases.

We will improve the capacity for energy transmission, which is crucial for the city’s ability to electrify the transport fleet, develop housing construction and promote new industrial projects. These investments are crucial for the city’s transition to an electrified and fossil-free future, says Peter Hjalmar.

During the last decade, E.ON has invested approximately SEK 30 billion in improving the electricity networks. During the current regulatory period, from 2024 to 2028, the company plans to invest SEK 23 billion in the electricity grid, which marks E.ON’s largest investment project to date.

The record-high investments are necessary because we need to ensure a reliable electricity supply while adapting to the rapidly increasing demand for electricity, which places high demands on the electricity grid and the entire energy system, says Peter Hjalmar.

E.ON’s largest investment program to date follows the Energy Market Inspectorate’s, Ei’s, financial framework decision for the regulatory period 2024-2027, which creates the conditions for necessary investments in the electricity grid.

The model and size of the grid companies’ revenue frameworks are determined by the authority Energimarknadsinspektionen (Ei), which ensures fair prices for consumers. The grid fees are based on the costs the grid companies have to build, maintain and operate the grids, including a reasonable return on invested capital.
