Relief in Vimmerby after the bankruptcy

--

After a month of uncertainty, the long-awaited announcement came on Thursday – V-Tab’s printing house in Vimmerby lives on.

– Now it’s square on the floor again, says the GS union’s Thomas Eklund.

It has been very quiet on the floor in V-Tab’s printing shop in Vimmerby in recent days. After the bankruptcy at the end of March, the employees have continued to work in uncertainty, and in recent days they have been tossed between hope and despair. There was a buyer who wants to continue the business, but everything was in danger of falling due to the lease.

Now the Scandinavian printing group Stibo and the property owner Nyfosa have come to an agreement and the deal is in place. The printing house in Vimmerby will continue to be operated.

– Now there are signs on the floor again, says Thomas Eklund, chairman of the GS union at the printing company.

Instead of making the last day of work on Friday, all employees should stay for another month, he says. During that time, Stibo and the union will negotiate how the staffing will look like thereafter.

Stibo’s CEO Søren Henriksen has previously told Dagens Arbete that he believes that between 40 and 60 positions will be needed at the printing company, where around 80 people worked before the bankruptcy.

Although not all jobs will be saved, the employees are relieved.

– It is not certain that we will be full, but the majority of us will remain in any case. Now you see a future, says Thomas Eklund.
