Organized crime is a systemic threat and must be suppressed. The government has therefore decided that the Paying Authority shall participate in the government’s joint effort against serious and organized crime.

Since 2009, twelve Swedish authorities have cooperated with intelligence and operational efforts against criminal individuals, networks and phenomena in a joint effort against organized crime, on behalf of the government. As of June 1, the disbursement authority will be the thirteenth authority instructed by the authority’s instruction to participate, together with the Employment Agency, the Ecocrime Authority, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Prison Service, the Swedish Enforcement Agency, the Coast Guard, the Migration Agency, the Police Agency, the Tax Agency, the Security Police, the Customs Agency and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

– In order to crack organized crime, a gathering of forces from the whole of society is needed. That is why I am happy that the Payment Authority is now tasked with participating in this work going forward, says Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson.

The government has also decided that the Paying Authority should be added to the regulation on the obligation to provide information in the case of cooperation against certain organized crime. This means that, within the framework of such collaboration, the Paying Authority can more efficiently and simply exchange information with the aim of preventing, preventing or detecting certain organized crime.
