Systembolaget’s cash registers are up and running again

The cash register problem that prevented card payments in about 50 of Systembolaget’s stores has been fixed, the company announces. The disruption lasted for 1.5 hours on Friday afternoon.

“The root cause of the disturbance has not yet been determined,” writes Sofia Sjöman Wass, press officer, in a press release.

Earlier this week, one of Systembolaget’s subcontractors was exposed to an IT attack, which created a risk of product shortages on the shelves. A risk that increases every day the problem persists.

– We work hard on that. There is still hope that it will work with deliveries within a few days, said Systembolaget’s press manager Katinka Wall earlier on Friday.

Around 15 percent of Systembolaget’s sales volume comes from the affected subcontractor.
