A Hollywood legend has passed away: actor Rick Dalton is dead.
He made his breakthrough in the 1960s western series “Bounty Law”, and also appeared in films such as “The 14 Fists of McCluskey” (1966) and the Italian Bond pastiche “Operazione Dyn-O-Mite!” (1970). It was on the set of the latter that Dalton met his future wife, Francesca Capucci.
Of course, Rick Dalton never really existed. He is the character that DiCaprio plays in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” from 2019. Now he is declared dead anyway, at the age of 90, by the account Video Archives on Twitter – that is, the podcast that Tarantino runs together with Roger Avary.
“We are saddened by the news that actor Rick Dalton has died,” the post read. “He died peacefully in his Hawaii home and is survived by wife Francesca.”
On Tuesday, Tarantino and Avary promise a special episode of his film podcast which will be dedicated to Dalton’s memory.
Tarantino will also return to Rick Dalton and his career with the upcoming fictional book “The Films of Rick Dalton”. He also has plans to turn “Bounty Law” into a real TV series – when and how that will happen remains to be seen.
