When the mask was lifted by the Viking in the semi-final of “Masked singer”, Måns Zelmerlöw fell off the chair.
Behind the mask hid his wife, Ciara Janson, who devoted herself to great secrecy in order not to reveal her participation in the program.
– I lied to him for nine weeks about everything, she says.
It was the Viking and the King who had to leave “Masked singer” during Friday’s semi-final.
When the masks were removed, the panel member fell Måns Zelmerlöw off the chair. His wife, the actor, hid behind the Viking’s mask Ciara Johnson.
In the show, viewers could see the entire panel gaping in surprise after the revelation.
– It was the sickest thing, exclaims Felix Herngren.
David Hellenius asks the actor how she managed it, and she tells us that she has flown back and forth between the UK and Sweden, even though she hates flying.
Felix Herngren asks Måns how it is that he did not recognize her voice, and says that it is a “scandal”.
In the program, Ciara reveals how she went about hiding her involvement from Måns.
– I have been acting since I was seven years old, but “Masked singer” is the scariest and most difficult thing I have ever done, she says.
Tried to sound like a man
She says that everyone has been worried that he would figure it out right away, and that among other things she tried to distort her voice to sound like a man, which apparently confused the panel. During the season, they guessed that everything from Carol to Pewdiepie hid behind the mask.
To be able to participate in the program, Ciara needed to travel between the UK and Sweden every week, something that caused problems. In the program, she talks about an occasion where both she and Måns were at Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, at the same time.
In the clip, she has filmed herself from a hotel room at the airport, where she is waiting to meet Måns.
– He thinks I’m flying from London with my children, and he’s going to meet us at baggage claim. I might have to buy a plane ticket just to get in.
“Lied about everything”
For Aftonbladet, Ciara talks about what it was like to hide her participation in the program from her husband.
– The longer the time went by, the easier it became, because I realized that he had no idea, she says and says that she came close to telling herself a few times.
– It was a bit scary, because I started to feel more relaxed and started talking about it with the children. It was much easier than I thought it would be.
She says that she made up various lies in order not to reveal that she was rehearsing and preparing for the show.
– I lied to him for nine weeks about everything, and the lies became more detailed each time.
Didn’t answer FaceTime calls
While she was rehearsing and preparing for the show, she said she had various meetings, or was in the studio working. The hardest part, she says, were the evening shows every week, when Måns called on FaceTime and wanted to say hello to the family, and Ciara was on the show.
– I couldn’t answer, so then he could ask if I was angry with him and I thought “yes, that’s good”. So I said “yes, I’m angry with you, and don’t want to talk right now”, she says, laughing.
She says that the reaction from Måns when her participation in the program was revealed was what made all the secrecy worth it.
– I have never seen him so shocked, his reaction really made it all worth it.
