The repairman: “Good of him”
Jan Emanuel has agreed to settle the lawsuit over his luxury yacht.
The contractor must now pay the counterparty SEK 85,000.
– It doesn’t bother me, he says.
The contractor John Emanuel49, claims he was defrauded by the person who carried out repair work on his yacht.
The repairer and his company believe that Jan Emanuel provided incorrect information about the work performed and the time reporting.
Now the two parties have agreed to a settlement, reports the news agency Siren.
Jan Emanuel: “Don’t touch my back”
The repairer’s company first demanded that Jan Emanuel pay SEK 133,000 for work performed.
According to the settlement, Jan Emanuel must now pay SEK 85,000 to the other party.
– It doesn’t bother me, he says to Aftonbladet.
He is adamant that the repairman did a bad job and that things on the boat were destroyed rather than repaired.
– I have deducted the direct costs I incurred for it, he says and continues:
– So now we met at 85,000.
A mark against “happiness seekers”
Jan Emanuel believes that he would not really have had to pay anything at all.
– But he has been there and tried. The fact that he has not succeeded is partly my fault for not checking the skills of the craftsmen. And I have to blame myself for that.
For him, it’s not about money, but rather a mark against what he calls “obvious scams”.
– Don’t do that to me because I won’t give you the money. I’m not going along with this anymore. Fortune seekers who think they can cash in because I have a lot of money. That’s not how you should behave, says Jan Emanuel.
The repairman: “I haven’t done it”
Aftonbladet has been in contact with the repairman, who he also stands by.
– He says we have blown him, but he has changed his story several times. Says I changed the batteries when I didn’t. I have not done it. He says I’ve run a pump dry, I haven’t.
He believes that many of Jan Emanuel’s claims only came after he and the company chose to go to the District Court with the case.
The repairman also says that Jan Emanuel wanted to pay him 500 kroner an hour, when in fact he takes more than double that.
Why didn’t you agree on the hourly rate before doing the work?
– He never asked. And I have my hourly rate. It was rude of him.
“Satisfied with the settlement”
Now he wants to leave the dispute behind and move on.
– I am still satisfied with the settlement. Now I don’t have to wait a year for a trial. A lawsuit that I was guaranteed to win.
