Anders Lind explains that LINES is an interactive sound artwork that investigates participation and new artistic possibilities for the performance of contemporary art music. The work is an open orchestral composition performed through museum visitor/spectator interactions.

– The spectators’ interactions take place with lines, which in this version for the Nova Bienal Rio Edition are placed on the wall, where different sensors then pick up the visitors’ movements in real time, which are translated into musical structures, says Anders Lind.

– This is the first time that LINES has been exhibited in South America. Previous exhibitions of LINES have been shown in Kitchener in Canada, Berlin, Maribor in Slovenia, Reyjkavik, Goyang in South Korea, Milan and the Västerbottens Museum in Umeå, among others.

Anders Lind’s artistic research at the department of aesthetic subjects, which is part of UmArts, moves within the field of New Media Art, and more specifically within the fields of Interactive Sound Art and Participatory Art.

The Museum of Tomorrow is Brazil’s largest technical museum and the Nova Biennale is produced by FILE festival, internationally recognized for its festivals in Brazil focusing on contemporary media art.

The previous FILE festival was visited by over 60,000 people. Nova Bienal Rio Edition opens on September 20 and runs until October 29, and Anders Lind is on site in Rio to install and present his work before the opening.
