Anette Novak took office as the new CEO of the Film Institute in April 2022, after Anna Serner’s eleven years in the post.

In a press release, board chairwoman Gunilla von Platen comments on the board’s unanimous decision to change management already now:

“Anette Novak has made good contributions to Swedish film, however, the board considers that there is a need for another leadership. The intention is not to change the direction of the business”.

The announcement shocks the film world, TT reports.

– I think it is the shortest time a CEO has sat at the Film Institute, that I have experienced, says Peter Fornstam, CEO of Swedish cinema and chairman of the industry organization Sweden’s Cinema Owners Association.

Anette Novak was between 2018 and 2022 head of the Norwegian Media Council. She was also a special investigator for the media investigation in 2015–2016.
