It was in 2005 that the then 17-year-old Princess Beatrice began dating Liuzzo, who was seven years older. The American was on several of the royal family’s luxury trips, including to Jamaica and Swiss Verbier.
The relationship with Beatrice lasted just over two years.
On February 7 this year, Liuzzo was found dead in a hotel room in Miami in what the police suspect is an overdose, writes The Sun.
Was charged with murder
Liuzzo has appeared in several police investigations. Just a couple of years before he started seeing the princess, in 2002, he was charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of a person in a bar fight in Boston.
He was convicted in an American court of aggravated assault, and sentenced to 100 hours of community service. In connection with the sentence, he was also banned from traveling abroad, writes The Sun.
When the court found out that he was traveling with the royal family, he was given an extended travel ban, which caused the relationship with the princess to go down the drain.
– I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get so deeply involved with Bea. I loved her, but I wasn’t in love with her, Liuzzo told The Sun after the breakup.
In September 2009, Liuzzo was convicted in an Australian court after driving his car into a traffic light. He was also convicted of drug possession.
Princess Beatrice’s father, Prince Andrew, has been in the limelight in recent years – above all for his connections to the pedophile and financier Jeffrey Epstein.
