From top to bottom. Now the duo is going back up!

Samir Badran and Viktor Frisk went straight into this year’s Melodifestival and were then mocked on social media for fake singing. “A storm of hate and made us a laughing stock” as they themselves describe it. This led to both Viktor and Samir deleting Tiktok where much of the hate was spread.

– You get sad. If you ask anyone if you have been teased or something, it takes a toll on you. And then you can imagine that you will be hanged by an entire country, says Viktor Frisk who has now just downloaded Tiktok again, just like the pair horse Samir Badran.

Because now it’s time for revenge.

THE ARTICLE IN BRIEF

Samir Badran and Viktor Frisk received harsh criticism and hate on social media after leaving the Melodifestivalen straight away and being mocked for their fake singing.

Now the duo takes revenge with their new song “Sverige”, a more uptempo song that they believe in differently.

They plan to invest wholeheartedly in the music going forward with a summer tour, new music on the way and they are also starting a podcast together.

Expressen meets the duo in Viktor’s apartment in the monster building Norra Torren in Vasastan with a view of Stockholm – past the Globen in the south and just as far north. After pointing out where Samir, photographer and the undersigned lives, we begin the interview in the beige, fluffy sofa and leather armchairs opposite.

Samir and Viktor are back with the song “Sverige”. A revenge song and at the same time a tribute to the country and what the duo experienced during their tours over the years. They have taken on board the criticism against the calmer Mellolåten and are now playing at a more uptempo pace, just like their previous songs.

Viktor feels a certain fear that the new song will be bad and says that he adjusts to it as a “survival mechanism”.

Samir: “A flop”

But the duo don’t quite agree on the revenge song’s potential.

– I think it will be a flop, says Samir Badran, which makes Viktor Frisk laugh.

Samir elaborates:

– We have high demands on ourselves. But our friends and people at our gigs think it’s damn good. They get really ticked off by it. But we ourselves don’t believe in it right now, says Samir and points out that the song would have been timed better if it was the EC or WC.

It was a dark time after the Melodifestivalen for Samir who got so much hate that he felt he didn’t want to live anymore.

Viktor pops in.

– We probably believe in it. But you always get like that before you release a song. Then you lose everything.

The plan is for the duo to invest wholeheartedly in the music going forward. Samir trained as a broker and worked as one for a few years but has now closed the door and will only devote himself to music.

– You either have to bet on something or nothing. It is not possible to hold on half-heartedly, he says of the decision.

Tour and new music

This summer they will go on tour again for the first time in five years and they are tagged.

– It’s so much fun, to make people happy on stage, says Samir, who at the same time says that a break from music and touring life was required for a few years.

– But now we are ready to take on Sweden again, says Viktor.

The duo has recorded another song to be released in a month. They audition the demo during the visit and sit quietly – for the first time during the interview – as if to really listen to everything.

And of course it could be another fast-paced summer torment, they themselves hope and believe so.

Now the duo invests wholeheartedly in the music and aims for the top – literally at the top of the Norra Torren in Stockholm.

Started podcast together: “Not PK”

They not only release new music together, but now also start a podcast together. The name of the podcast “Seek help” has several meanings. On the one hand, the duo must seek help from the listeners by calling people, but the listeners also get help from the duo themselves. The name is also a jab at the haters of Mello.

– That the idiots who fuck with us should seek help, says Samir and continues.

– We have decided not to be PK. It shouldn’t be a bunch of fucking filters, he says of the podcast.

But can we see a revenge of Samir and Viktor also in Mello?

– Victor feels revenge for Mello. I feel “the music is going to hell and we feel like we can’t get going.” Then I can consider,” says Samir and continues.

– But if the music goes well, I won’t do it again. I felt so bad that I hated my life. But now it’s not like that. Now it has turned into love, as it always does, says Samir, who thinks it’s fun to be on stage again – and Viktor agrees.

– I love every second. This is what I want to do.
