The actor Emma Stone, 35, is a double Oscar winner for the films “La La Land” (2016) and “Poor Things” (2023).

She is current with the film “The Curse” where her co-star is Nathan Fielder, 40. In a joint interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Fielder told something about Stone that few people know.

– Her name is actually Emily, but professionally she calls herself Emma. When there are people around who don’t know her, I call her Emma, but from now on I’ll just call her Emily, says Fielder.

Stone said that Fielder found an ingenious way to get around the name problem.

– Nathan calls me Em which makes it even easier, says Stone.

Fielder said it’s a way to “link together” the two first names.

“Just Call Me Emily”

Stone said she started calling herself Emma Stone because there was already an actress in the Screen Actors Guild named Emily Stone.

– But a few years ago I kind of panicked about it and for some reason felt like “I can’t go on with this, just call me Emily”, says Stone.

She was asked if she is called Emily in Hollywood.

– The people I work with do it when I get to know them, says Stone.

Stone was then asked how she would react if a fan approached her and said “Can I take a selfie, Emily?”.

– That would be so nice, I would like to be called Emily, says Stone.
