As a writer, Michel Houellebecq does not only depict the present in relation to questions concerning sexuality, religion and cloning in his books. But he is also a poet, singer and actor.

Now the 66-year-old is debuting in a porn film, produced by the controversial collective Kirac, Keeping It Real Art Critics, premiering on March 11.

The collective describes their films as an “effort to show the truth about love”.

“I know a lot of girls in Amsterdam who want to sleep with you for fun, you who are such a famous writer”, wrote the Dutch director Stefan Ruitenbeek in his email to convince Houellebecq to appear in the film, reports the French news channel Bfm.

In a trailer, Michel Houellebecq is shown with a young woman in a nightgown and tattoos. In bed in a hotel room, they kiss and caress each other.

According to German Die Welt, Houellebecq is completely naked in other scenes.

Stefan Ruitenbeek contacted the author after he canceled his honeymoon with wife Qianyum Lysis Li in Morocco. The motive must have been the risk that Muslim extremists would kidnap him. Houellebecq has been critical of Islam for several years and has been in the news for a couple of weeks now after describing Muslims as a security threat to the French Republic in the newspaper Front Populaire.

The Muslim organization Union des mosques de France has subsequently sued the author for incitement against a ethnic group.

– It took his wife a month to fix prostitutes in Morocco and then everything went to waste, comments Stefan Ruitenbeek in the porn film, where Houellebecq plays himself.

According to Radio Luxemburg, “Kirac 27” contains a lot of sex, eroticism, prostitution and vomit.

”The short film is the final straw. It misleads the debate and one forgets the author’s dangerous political message, given that mainly supporters of the extreme right are praised in his books,” roars the political weekly L’Obs.

Since last year, a lively debate has been going on in the French parliament about whether porn should be or not. Several politicians want to introduce stricter rules to make it harder for minors to access porn sites. 62 percent of the country’s boys and girls under the age of 15 have watched pornography online.

The author himself has not yet commented on his participation in “Kirac 27”.
