The training profile Elin Kjos is dead.
In the spring of 2020, she suffered from incurable cancer.
“I know that many of you are now grieving with us,” writes her sister Ida Kjos on Instagram.
The training profile and the former elite swimmer Elin Kjos is dead. She was 35 years old.
“Last night our beloved Elin fell asleep to the tunes of Eva Cassidy. The disease escalated quickly in the final stages and the body couldn’t take it anymore,” writes her twin sister Ida Kjos on Instagram and continues:
“How she took on this challenge. With courage, strength and love for life and those around her. You are outstanding, our beloved Elin.”
She writes that the last two days passed peacefully and that she was being held by her family.
“I know that many of you are now grieving with us and let’s do it together here. At the same time, we ask you to let us grieve in peace,” she writes.

Had lung cancer
In 2020, Elin went to the doctor with a persistent cough, but it turned out to be lung cancer. A twenty centimeter tumor in the right lung was surgically removed, but the cancer had spread throughout the body.
The doctors’ verdict: the disease was incurable. No treatment would make her well, just give her more time.
– In May 2020, they registered me as a palliative patient, i.e. life extension. What they thought at the time was that I wouldn’t live through the year, that was the message I got, Elin said in “Renée’s bridge” earlier this year.
Spread to the skeleton
Two years later came the miraculous news that the cancer was dormant and that one of the largest metastases had shrunk. But then the cancer spread to the bone.
She then decided to change her attitude to the disease and began to live in a different way.
– I have also worked on turning much of my previous anxiety and fear of death into a great love of life. None of us really knows how long we will be alive, but the only thing we know is what is in front of us right now. That is why it is so important to never take our time for granted and to focus on life here and now. And also remind yourself what a blessing it is to actually live and wake up to a new day, she told Aftonbladet in 2022.
Podcast together with his sister
Since Elin received the news, she has shared on Instagram about her feelings about the disease, the path to chemotherapy and how she trains to endure.
Almost exactly a year ago, she started the podcast “Systrarna Kjos” together with her twin sister, the lawyer and columnist Ida Kjos.
There they have talked about talked about life, death and everything in between.
“We have had the opportunity to share our everyday life & our lives (high and low) more with YOU and it has been absolutely fantastic,” Elin Kjos wrote on Instagram when the podcast turned 1 year old.
