Julie Paulsen Johannessen, 21, was a great shooting talent in Norway.

This weekend she was found dead in her room in Texas, where she attended university.

– It feels incredibly sad, hurts and is completely unreal, writes Tor Idar Aune, director of sports in the national shooting team.

The Norwegian shooting team is in mourning.

The talent Julie Paulsen Johannessen, who made her senior debut in the World Cup earlier in April, has passed away.

In a memorial text on the Norwegian Shooting Association’s website, sports director Tor Idar Aune describes the grief.

Just made debut

– One of Norway’s greatest shooting talents has left us, an athlete who was willing to give everything to succeed in his sport, they write.

The 21-year-old won EC gold in the junior class at 50 meters as recently as last fall and thus made his debut in the World Cup in Lima this month.

Last summer she began studying at the University of Texas. It was also in her room at university that she was found dead, just days after returning from the World Cup competition. The cause of death is not known.

Planned the summer

– It feels incredibly sad, hurts and is completely unreal. We want to stand with the family in their grief and contribute to Julie’s memory being well taken care of, continues Idar Aune.

The association also writes that Julie Paulsen Johannessen was in the middle of planning the upcoming summer training just days before her death.

“We wish peace for Julie Paulsen Johannessen’s memory,” concludes the association.
