SVT Halland has met Johan Olofsson, who was placed in a special school during his upbringing. For years he tried to have his diagnosis re-examined and recently a psychiatric examination concluded that he has no intellectual disability.
According to Magnus Tideman, professor of social work specializing in disability at Halmstad University, Johan’s case is not unique.
– There have been a number of cases that have come to our attention where people have been wrongly placed, he says.
