On Saturday, the Norrbotten-Västerbotten Housekeeping Society awards prizes for the year’s rural efforts in Norrbotten and Västerbotten.

The media are welcome to participate on site or to previously make visible and draw attention to the award winners, all of whom are important to northern Sweden’s food supply and culture.

When and where? Saturday, April 27. The annual meeting begins at 10.00, award ceremony at about 10.20, at Stiftsgården in Skellefteå.

The prizes awarded are:

  • rural entrepreneur of the year
  • agricultural entrepreneur of the year
  • Ragnar Lassinanti’s Culture Prize

The prize sum for each prize is SEK 10,000 and the distribution takes place in connection with the Norrbotten-Västerbotten Housekeeping Society’s annual meeting. More information about the award winners follows below.

The awards go to actors who contribute to strengthening, inspiring and developing rural business life and culture, and the awards are an important and traditional part of the Housekeeping Society’s operations. For over 200 years, outstanding entrepreneurial and rural achievements in the northern counties have been recognized and rewarded for spreading good examples and enabling sustainable and competitive rural industries.

This year’s award winner

Agricultural company of the year: Elin & Henrik Liikamaa, Tandfors, Lappträsk

Elin and Henrik Liikamaa have made an outstanding contribution with their dairy farm in Tandfors, Lappträsk. By investing in new technology, they have not only increased efficiency but also improved animal welfare. Their pursuit of sustainability and continuous development makes them a role model for the modern agricultural industry.

Rural Company of the Year: Sara Werner, Öre Gårdsbakeri, Håknäs

Sara Werner, owner of Öre Gårdsbageri, has created a thriving business that includes not only an artisan bakery and café, but also a farm shop offering local products. Her commitment to promoting local grain and investing in her own mill demonstrates her dedication to sustainability and the local economy.

Ragnar Lassinanti’s cultural prize: Susanne Rantatalo & Jan Johansson, Gällivare

Susanne Rantatalo and Jan Johansson, with their passion for music and meänkieli, have spread Tornedalen’s culture and language far beyond the region’s borders. Their work as musicians and singers has not only entertained the audience but also contributed to the preservation and promotion of Tornedal’s heritage. Their creativity and commitment make them true cultural ambassadors for their region.
