A few days during week 18, American units, under the leadership of the Swedish Armed Forces, will move from Norway, through Norrbotten and on to Finland. This means that several long military convoys will travel along the roads in the county.
The columns are about a kilometer long and sometimes they drive slower than the current speed limit. This will have a major impact on the accessibility of traffic on the majority of roads. Above all, this applies to the sections Riksgränsen – Boden, as well as Boden – Haparanda and Boden – Pello.
The armed forces, relevant authorities and municipalities cooperate before and in connection with the military transports so that they take place in a safe manner and have as little impact on the public as possible.
