Ghena and Neri are two of the students who worked on programming robots through Kreativum’s Mobile Science Center.
Kreativum Science Center in Karlshamn is an interactive discovery center with a variety of exciting activities in what is usually abbreviated STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering and Math). Now the discovery center has been given a mobile operation in the “Mobile Science Center” project. During 2024, a series of visits will be made to schools, leisure centers, residential areas and other places where young people are found.
In recent weeks, pedagogues from Kreativum and teachers from Blekinge University of Technology have visited Tullskolan’s year five on three occasions. The students have been working on the theme “Programming with Spike”, which means that they have been given tasks to solve with the help of Spike robots from LEGO Education.
Ghena and Neri are two of the students who chose to build and program a dancing robot in order to investigate how the body moves and how it works with, for example, robots’ joints and walking functions.
– It has been very cool and fun, says Neri and shows how he makes the robot move.
The aim of the venture is simply to arouse interest and curiosity in natural science subjects, technology and mathematics, and they have really succeeded in that, according to the class’s mentor Kristin Dittmer.
– The students have been completely engrossed in this. They have been very engaged and are learning a lot. I really believe that it gives an interest in technology and leads to the students seeing new possibilities for the future, she says.
