Three teenage boys who managed to stop a kidnapping of an underage girl in Järfälla northwest of Stockholm are being praised by the police, writes Mitti.

It was last fall that the boys saw how a car driver stopped next to a girl and tried to drag her into the car. The boys then started shouting at the man who let the girl go and drove away.

A 36-year-old man was later identified and arrested by the police thanks to the boys filming the car. In the car, the police found a computer that contained gross child pornography material. In connection with the investigation, a USB stick with a large amount of films depicting gross abuse of children was also discovered.

The man has now been sentenced by the Attunda district court for attempted unlawful deprivation of liberty and serious child pornography offences. The penalty will be forensic psychiatric care with a special discharge examination.

The boys recently received a diploma from the police for their prompt intervention. They also got to meet the investigating police officers who explained how the investigation went.

– The boys acted with great courage and in an exemplary manner, I see their efforts as decisive in the fact that the crime was not completed, says prosecutor Johanna Strid to Mitti.
