As the discussion group Dispyterna in Karlstad, Stefan S Widqvist and others, have previously reacted to, are the plans for the 100 meter high wooden hotel. Intended to be placed down towards the Klarälven behind the Lerin museum and the library. It is very crazy to have this tall building built that will destroy the valuable cultural environment that the entire area of Sandgrund represents; Värmland’s Museum and other cultural buildings and above all the beautiful nature found on Sandgrundsudden. It is completely irresponsible!

Politicians should have higher ambitions than making an entrepreneur happy. A billionaire, who wants to build a 100 meter high wooden hotel in this very inappropriate place. For comparison, it can be mentioned that Karlstad’s cathedral is 65 meters high.

If the politicians do not understand to take responsibility for what we hand over to future generations. Do they need a reminder. All planning within the municipality cannot only be about the construction of housing, hotels and shopping centres. Politicians should have greater ambitions than that. For example, to preserve valuable natural areas and meet the needs of those who already live in the municipality. The politicians are happy when someone wants to make investments in Karlstad and they say yes without thinking in the least about what the construction will mean and threaten valuable outdoor and cultural environments.

Forests and grassy areas are vital for both young and old. Whether you live in the municipality or are visitors to the residence city on the northern Vänern shore.

I believe that there must be an end to the unrestrained and insane construction in Karlstad, which is becoming more and more dense and ugly. There is no doubt that housing needs to be built. But it should be done with great consideration for nature and the people who live in Karlstad. All political decisions, I believe, must have a clear bearing on the future and the gigantic responsibility we have, for what we hand over to those who are children today and the children who will be born in the future.

Not least, we have a major climate responsibility. For that reason alone, allowing yet another shopping center is reprehensible. That on Månsberget.

If we are to comply with the EU’s climate goals, we instead need to reduce consumption and driving with vehicles powered by gasoline or diesel. For a sustainable future society, it is not reasonable that market forces alone must be the only thing that applies and must be accommodated.

Growth is so much more than economic growth!
