On April 24-25, Minister of Migration Maria Malmer Stenergard will travel to Great Britain to visit Dover and London. During the trip, the Prime Minister will, among other things, visit the border police in Dover and Manston and meet the British minister responsible for illegal migration, Michael Tomlinson, for bilateral discussions on migration and return. The Prime Minister will also meet former Prime Minister Theresa May to discuss different ways to combat human smuggling and human trafficking.

In London, the Migration Minister will meet the British Minister responsible for illegal migration, Michael Tomlinson, for bilateral discussions on, among other things, the work on irregular migration and return.

– I think there are good opportunities for our countries to deepen cooperation in the area of ​​migration, in accordance with the strategic partnership that Sweden and Great Britain entered into in October last year, says Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard.

The Migration Minister will also meet former Prime Minister Theresa May in her role as Chair of the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking.

– Fighting various forms of exploitation is something that I and the government see as a particular priority in order to protect an open and free society. I want to hear more about what measures we can take nationally, regionally and internationally to combat these heinous crimes, says Maria Malmer Stenergard.

The Minister for Migration will also visit the Border Police in Dover and Manston to observe and gain an insight into the UK Border Police’s operational work to deal with irregular migration across the English Channel.
