– Through our investigations, we have been able to establish extensive violations of international law, against the laws of war, in a series of conflicts around the world, says Anna Johansson, director general of the international human rights organization Amnesty International Sweden.

In the report “The state of the world’s human rights”, Amnesty International reviewed the situation regarding human rights in 155 countries.

Certain events in 2023 are described in the report as particularly prominent when it comes to human suffering. It concerns, among other things, the conflict between Israel and Hamas, and the war in Ukraine.

Civilians have been killed, buildings have been destroyed and many have not had access to humanitarian aid, notes the human rights group, which also points to the fact that many countries have ignored the laws of war.
