Last week, a tribute song to the North Korean leader was released with the lines “Let us pay tribute to Kim Jong-Un”. But unlike previous tribute songs, the new song has a more modern style.

The reason is smuggled K-pop from South Korea that North Korea is trying to adapt to, says Gabriel Jonsson, docent in Korean language and culture at Stockholm University.

– If there are now people who know that there is different music, maybe you want to create a different type of songs and performance than you had before.

Hacker attack

This weekend, one of Systembolaget’s suppliers in Central Sweden was hit by a hacker attack, which may mean that some goods may run out. According to Sveriges Radio, a known criminal organization from North Korea is behind the attack.

Hacker attacks carried out by North Korean actors have become increasingly common, primarily with the aim of stealing cryptocurrency. In 2023, criminal groups from North Korea stole cryptocurrency worth close to 20 billion kroner, reports Politico.

Robot test

On Monday, North Korea conducted a major robot test. According to North Korean media, the purpose was to test short-range robots in response to a simulated nuclear attack by a foreign power, USNI News reports.

Since last year, North Korea has conducted around 100 robot tests. According to experts, the tests will continue to put pressure on the United States to change its stance on the Korean Peninsula, AP reports.
