In a report that the police recently released, 14,000 people are judged to be active gang criminals in Sweden. At least 1,700 of them are children.

– It’s easier to get a little kid to do things for you. To avoid getting your hands dirty, says “Adam” in the Mission review series “Sagittarius”.

“The most ruthless thing imaginable”

In it, several gang criminals tell how and why children are recruited to carry out acts of violence.

– The way they recruit children is the most ruthless and raw thing you can imagine. There is a total lack of empathy, says national police chief Petra Lundh in Aktuellt.

“The whole society must help each other”

She says that last autumn a more structured collaboration was started at national, regional and local level – to identify the children who are at risk of ending up in criminal environments. Among other things, it is about the police, school and social services being able to cooperate better.

– We must start by preventing new recruitment. Because if we don’t, it doesn’t matter how good we are. It’s a massive recruitment so the whole community has to help.
