The children were found lifeless in a home in the Lina hage district in Södertälje on Tuesday evening. The alarm was received by the police shortly before 8 p.m. and large cordons were set up at the site, which is a townhouse area.
– A technical investigation is currently underway, says Per Fahlström shortly after 07 o’clock on Wednesday morning.
The arrested are a man and a woman. One of them was taken to hospital with injuries that were assessed as serious, according to Region Stockholm’s press service.
According to Expressen, it was a neighbor who called the police.
During the evening and night, the police have been very secretive about the incident, which initially came in as a vehicle and person check. However, it is stated that they are not looking for any additional suspected perpetrators.
During the night, the police heard witnesses in the area and technicians worked at the scene.
– I can’t say anything more right now about either age, gender or what happened. It is enough that two minor children have died, says Per Fahlström.
“The preliminary investigation has begun and we have arrested two people on probable grounds suspected of murder. Intensive investigative work is underway. Interrogations will be held and a crime scene investigation will be carried out,” says senior prosecutor Ulrika Rosénwho leads the preliminary investigation, in a press release.
Södertälje is approximately 35 kilometers southwest of Stockholm.
