Folklistan has recruited three local politicians in Alingsås who now operate under the new party’s flag.

The local politicians are former Sweden Democrats who were previously wild after internal quarrels.

– They are warmly welcomed in our project, says Sara Skyttedal.

A week ago it became clear that parts of the party group in Åtvidaberg municipality are switching from the Christian Democrats to Folklistan.

Now Folklistan makes its second recruitment when it takes over three seats in the municipal council in Alingsås.

Former group leader for SD, Boris Jernskiegg, who is now wild after internal quarrels, together with his wife Agneta Grange and Lars Jaeger move to Folklistan.

– If you are on the Folklistan in the EU election, you can also be a local, even if we continue to pursue the policy that we went to the election on in Alingsås. We have not changed our political opinion just because we are on Folklistan.

Left SD after internal disputes

Boris Jernskiegg says the core issues he continues to push include increased camera surveillance and drug testing in schools.

He further says that he left SD due to internal conflicts based on his belief that SD politicians now get involved only to raise the fees given to elected representatives.

According to Boris Jernskiegg, it was he and his colleagues who contacted Folklistan after they saw that KD politicians in Åtvidaberg were switching over to the party.

– I read up and think that you can invest in this to get more publicity before the EU elections and for democratic issues.

Skyttedal: “Gets support from so many parts of the country”

Boris Jernskiegg was the local politician who received the most personal ticks in the 2022 election in Alingsås.

It is something that Folklistan’s co-founder Sara Skyttedal highlights as proof that Folklistan’s criticism of party systems is valid.

– It feels great that we are now supported by so many parts of the country and that these people who were previously representatives of the Sweden Democrats want to support Folklistan, says Sara Skyttedal.

– They are warmly welcomed in our project.

Sara Skyttedal further says that the person, rather than party, is important in local politics and that it is therefore fitting that the new members now represent Folklistan.

– At the local level, it is not always ideologies that form the basis of how to manage a municipality, and here it is clear that the voters have a high level of trust in these people.
