– According to this application, our employment need is 180 shearers. It’s completely confusing, says Tua Broderick at Nova Film in Genarp, which has two employees.

In Grit Academy’s application, 25 film companies from Scania are stated as partners and that these are estimated to need to hire between 839 and 894 people in the coming years.

– The application states that SVT Malmö would employ 100 shearers in the next few years. I was completely shocked and angry when I read this because it is completely out of thin air. We currently have 14 employed shearers, says Helena Petersen Schön, group manager at SVT Malmö.

SEK 13.7 million granted

Now all 25 film companies have dropped out of cooperation with Grit Academy, but the Norwegian University of Applied Sciences Authority has granted SEK 13.7 million to start the education.

– It feels like someone has accepted this training who has no idea what is going on in our industry, says Tua Broderick.

The authority for the university of applied sciences believes that the decision is determined by the authority’s own analyses. Grit Academy has sent in a new list of 13 other Scanian film companies that will be involved in the project.

– It is up to Grit Academy to ensure that the education has a strong connection to working life and if they do not, our supervisory unit will take over there, says Malin Zakrisson at the Authority for the University of Applied Sciences.

Denies inflated figures

Eric Badeur, CEO at Grit Academy, has not wanted to appear for an interview, but writes in an email regarding the estimated employment need:

“It is an industry that is characterized by time-limited project employment. So it is not necessarily full-time employment that you had in mind when you estimated the needs.”

Grit Academy denies that they exaggerated the need for employment and claims that the information comes from the Scanian film companies.

– I think it is sad for the young people who are looking for this kind of education that they read that there is such a great need when it is actually not true, says Helena Petersen Schön at SVT Malmö.
