Tele2 has started the podcast The internet pioneers which is about the history of the internet. Together with presenter Lina Thomsgård, experts and famous guests such as David Sundin, Ebba von Sydow and Sebastian Siemiatkowski, they invite the listener on a nostalgic journey in the story of when Sweden was connected.

– With The internet pioneers we want to highlight how the internet has influenced and shaped Swedish entertainment, culture, media, privacy and entrepreneurship. For the younger listeners, it will probably be both surprising and entertaining to hear about the early years, and the slightly older listeners who remember what the sound of a modem connecting up sounds like, will recognize themselves and remember back, says Fredrik Hallstan, communications manager at Tele2.

In the podcast, attention is drawn to the events, phenomena and sites that have shaped Swedish internet history. David Sundin talks about how it happened when he was given free rein to create the humor site The sperm hare with Killinggänget in the 2000s, Aftonbladet’s former news director Bo Hedin about when the media went online, Sebastian Siemiatkowski talks about the importance of early connectivity for the Swedish tech wonder, and Helena Lingham, former technical expert for internet and e-mail at Tele2 looks back on the work of making the internet available to the public.

The internet pioneers were launched on 23 April and are available “where podcasts are”, for example on Spotify.
