On Wednesday April 24, the WC in cheerleading started in Orlando, USA. The championship lasts for three days, where Thursday included the semi-final for Sweden’s women’s national team and the mixed national team. Both teams have advanced to Friday’s final competition.
On Thursday 25 April, the WC semi-finals were held for the highest classes at the senior level in cheerleading. Sweden competed in both classes – the women’s class and the mixed class – and performed well in both. To advance to the final, a top 10 finish in the semi-final is required, which both teams achieved. Friday evening local time in the USA awaits the WC final.
The women’s national team competes in the senior all girl premier class where there are a total of 10 competing teams. Sweden’s ladies placed third in the semi-final. Finland is first and the USA close behind in second place.
The mixed national team competes in the senior coed premier where there were 12 competing teams. The mixed national team placed eighth in the semi-finals. Right now the USA is first, Taiwan second and Canada third.
– It feels fantastic that both of our senior national teams have made it to the final, a fine sign that the work and focus put in at home has hit the spot. Tomorrow in the final, the points will be reset to zero, but the teams have at least as good a chance then. There is a good chance of a medal, writes national team captain Karolina Olovsson.
