To meet the need for a larger kitchen, a new building has been erected at Bäckahagen’s school.

For the fifteenth year in a row, the Stockholm Building of the Year will be named. Bäckhagen’s school in Bandhagen and Hus 26 in the Slakthus area are among the finalists.
Among the ten finalists in the city’s Stockholm Building of the Year competition is the building that Bäckahagen’s school in Bandhagen has been completed with. In a comment, the jury writes: “The building is carefully designed with brick facades, like the existing school, and with fine details where the characteristic gables stand out”.
Another finalist is Hus 26 in the Slakthus area, which has been renovated and now houses several restaurants.
House 26 in the Slakthus area has been completely renovated. Today, the restaurant “Solen” can be found there, among other things.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the vote, which is available on the city’s website and runs until May 27. The winner will be announced on June 4.
The jury’s comment
About Bäckahagen’s school: “The school from the 1950s has been completed with a new building which, through its shape and location, adds new qualities to the outdoor environment. The building is carefully designed with brick facades, like the existing school, and with fine details where the characteristic gables stand out.
With simple means, active choices and commitment, the school has gained a clear identity despite a limited budget. It’s friendly, lively, self-evident and overall a carefully designed environment for children to stay in.”
About Hus 26 in the Slakthus area: “The renovation of house 26 is the starting point for the transformation of the Slakthus area. The building has been refined into a place where food and experiences take center stage.
In the carefully executed renovation, history has been brought to the fore and the original has become the important thing. The new has been added in a skillful way to elevate both the needs of the businesses and the experience.”
