The Norwegian music constellation Wardruna invites you to “Nordic Night” in the magnificent Borgholm castle ruins on July 8!! It will be an all-day event with concerts, workshops and meet & greets. As special guest and opening act for the evening, we see the Norwegian Sami singer Mari Boine with a band.

Wardrona creates new interpretations of old Nordic cultural and esoteric traditions. The project was started by the composer Einar Selvik in 2002 and has since released some very critically acclaimed albums, and among other things wrote music for the popular TV series Vikings. Historical instruments and modern musical landscape, whispering voices, melodic vocals and powerful choruses – musically, Wardruna is difficult to categorize. It simply has to be experienced!

Rhythmic, strong and evocative. She has captivated a whole world since the first album “Jaskatvuođa maŋŋá” in 1985 and the big breakthrough “Gula Gula” in 1989. Marie Boin mixes the yojken tradition with elements from jazz, rock and folk music from the cultures of the world. Boine is a pioneer and legend in what she does and has been a great inspiration for Wardruna’s music over the years.

In addition to the concerts in the evening, there will also be a workshop during the day at Borgholms Bio. In the workshop, we get to meet Einar who, among other things, talks about the concept of Wardruna and Nordic esoteric art forms, as well as Eilif who talks about horn and lur traditions. Both demonstrate a selection of instruments and Einar plays acoustically, with time for questions and answers. All ticket buyers will also have the opportunity to go to a meet & greet with Wardruna.

Einar Selvik says about the day:
“Our ‘Nordic Night’ events have been presented in different forms, as well as taking place on different continents, but it has always been about portraying both our own art and that of other artists in environments that fit and complement the art produced. We want to it should be more than a concert in a club. So far we have had the pleasure of inviting people to extraordinary venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater in the USA as well as ancient castles and Roman amphitheatres throughout Europe. This is the first time that we arrange Nordic Night in one of the Nordic countries and this time we also have the opportunity to include workshops and in addition a meet & greet session. This will give a greater context to our art and therefore potentially even more depth to the concert experience.”

The tickets will be released on Friday 25 November at 11.00 a.m. via Kulturbolaget.se.
