Just after half past five on Thursday afternoon, the alarm came about a fire at Toleredsskolan in Tolered on Hisingen.
When the emergency services arrived at the scene, it turned out that fired fireworks were in the school premises.
– It’s not a fire, but a piece of fireworks that went off inside the room, so we are ventilating, says Patrik Hedlund, interior commander at the greater Gothenburg rescue service.
Whether the fireworks were fired inside the premises or shot in from outside is currently unclear.
There should not have been anyone at the scene and according to the police, the firecracker or fireworks went off in a stairwell. A report of public negligence has been written.
“Some such events”
At 19.30, the emergency services were called to another school. This time in Kortedala.
– It was a firework that had been set off indoors at some gymnasiums. That set off the fire alarm, says Lotta Molander, alarm and line operator at the rescue service.
The police have not yet gone to Utmarksskolan, but state that already two days before New Year’s Eve there have been several fireworks-related alarms.
– There are a number of such events already now, says Fredrik Svedemyr.
