Contribute to a green transition for small and medium-sized companies

--

All projects and feasibility studies must aim to contribute to increased abilities and thereby create changed behavior in their target group. It is possible to apply for funding for efforts in three areas, which the Swedish Growth Agency calls result chains. The result chains are:

  1. direct contributions to companies
  2. development of support structures (in business promotion and other organisations)
  3. construction of environments and infrastructure

The result chains show where the results should be seen. In your application, you must describe how your project goals and activities will create strengthened abilities and changed behaviors (results), which then lead to long-term effects.
You can also apply for funding for a preliminary study to create the conditions for later applying for funding for a project.

1) Projects with direct contributions to companies
You work directly with small and medium-sized companies and help them strengthen their capabilities and develop changed behaviours. You can, for example, carry out such efforts within the following:

Objective 2.1 promote energy efficiency
Consulting for small and medium-sized companies, individually or in groups, in the form of, for example:
– support for developing services and business models that create increased awareness of the benefits of energy efficiency
– support for efficiency in production and the use of resources
– support in working with goals around energy efficiency
– support with producing investment and financing calculations
– support in various application processes that enable important investments, including before applications to Klimatklivet
– support for companies that develop solutions in energy efficiency, for example opportunities for experimentation and support in the development of new markets
– support for flexibility solutions in companies.

Goal 2.2 promote renewable energy
Consulting for small and medium-sized companies, individually or in groups, for example in the form of:
– knowledge-raising efforts about local and regional needs and solutions. The project is welcome to focus particularly on certain types of energy, for example hydrogen (from renewable energy), electricity from sun and wind, or cogeneration/district heating/district cooling.
– company-specific analyses
– developing smart solutions for managing unplanned electricity production
– support in application processes to enable investments, including before applications to Klimatklivet
– support to increase the capacity to understand new rules on renewable energy and adapt their operations to them.

Networks where companies can collaborate with and learn from others, for example
– networks for customers and suppliers, which contribute to more companies using or developing solutions that are important for the local and regional energy system
– networks where companies receive concrete support that leads to increased use of renewable energy, for example in collaboration with universities or other public actors.

Goal 2.6 promote circular economy
Consulting for small and medium-sized companies, individually or in groups, for example in the form of:
– develop and implement new circular business models that focus on sharing, repairing and reusing
– improve the design process
– test new technologies and processes
– identify new markets for residual flows
– make use of digitization opportunities such as AI for future food preparedness and food distribution.
– development of innovative goods and services
– investigate opportunities for industrial symbiosis, i.e. that surplus or residual products in a business, such as water, heat, waste or materials, become a resource that creates value for another party, e.g. companies, actors or municipally run businesses. Industrial symbiosis can also include cooperation on skills, services, premises, technical equipment and infrastructure.

Network for companies that can collaborate and learn from each other, for example
– within supply chains where SMEs participate
– within a particular industry or between industries.

Collaborations between small and medium-sized companies and academia, for example
– build up and develop knowledge and networks between universities and colleges, municipalities, regions and others in order to explore opportunities for industrial symbiosis.

2) Projects that develop support structures around the companies
You work with the support structure that exists around small and medium-sized companies and entrepreneurship. Support structure refers to actors such as public organisations, business and innovation-promoting actors whose purpose is to support companies. The efforts must create the conditions and contribute to the actors of the support structure strengthening their abilities and developing changed behaviours. This indirectly leads to better conditions for the companies. You can, for example, carry out such efforts within:

Objective 2.1 promote energy efficiency
– to create and develop networks and other support structures where companies can gain and share knowledge in energy efficiency
– to create and develop networks and other support structures that create a demand for energy efficiency solutions
– activities that strengthen the promotion actors’ methods and tools used in dialogue with small and medium-sized enterprises.

Goal 2.2 promote renewable energy
– to create support structures and networks that companies can use to develop their skills, as well as spread their knowledge of different energy solutions
– to create and develop networks and other support structures that create a demand for different solutions for the production and use of renewable energy
– activities that strengthen the promotion actors’ methods and tools used in dialogue with small and medium-sized enterprises.

Goal 2.6 promote circular economy
– to work with learning to improve work with public circular procurement
– to create networks to strengthen learning between different business promotion organisations.
– to carry out efforts to build up and develop knowledge and networks between universities and colleges, municipalities, regions and others with the aim of exploring opportunities for industrial symbiosis.
– activities that strengthen the promotion actors’ methods and tools used in dialogue with small and medium-sized enterprises.

3) Construction of environments or infrastructure

Goal 2.6 promote circular economy
There is also the possibility of applying for funding for projects where you build up physical environments and infrastructures. The environments must promote technological development and that companies can commercialize different solutions. It mainly deals with fixed assets, but can also include intangible assets to some extent. It can be about the following:

– Organizations co-invest and collaborate in building and developing test beds to test or scale up circular solutions.
– Investments in infrastructure/facilities.
