When the former band A-Teens made a much talked about comeback in this year’s Melodifestival, they had not met for almost 20 years. In the documentary A-Teens: The Reconciliation, they talk to each other about the time that changed their lives completely.
– We had a very special group feeling between us, but when it started to fall, it could not be repaired, says Marie Serneholt, who was one of the members.
Tour booked before they became a group
A-Teens was formed by a record company in 1998 and consisted of four friends who went to the same dance school.
The idea was for the band to re-record Abbas’ songs and their summer tour was already booked before they became a group.
– There wasn’t much time to think. It’s just: Now we’re driving, says one of the singers, Amit Paul.
Now the group members talk about hectic schedules, how they had to work with fevers, and how they traveled all over the world, despite their young age.
“Was in shock”
– I was shocked at how much you could plan in a whole year. Belgium two days, Germany one day, Poland, France, Spain. There were four or five countries a week, says Dhani Lennevald.
– Is it even human to work so much when you are 15?, says Sara Lumholdt.
A-Teens also hit big in the US, South America and Asia, and the group toured with Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, among others.
The group split in 2006.
