Stockholm, Södertälje, Uppsala and Eskilstuna are in the area that could receive up to seven centimeters of snow on Friday according to SMHI, which issued a yellow warning for heavy snowfall.

– Considering that there are many people who have changed to summer tires, it is good to be careful if you are going out in the morning traffic, and keep your distance. It’s a fairly late snowfall for the season, and it looks like it will mostly snow during the hours of rush hour traffic, so it’s important to be out in good time, says Emma Härenstam, meteorologist at SMHI.
As it is a rather mixed form of precipitation, it is difficult to say where in the warning area the most snow will fall.
A yellow warning means that traffic can affected by slips and slush, that accessibility may be restricted due to slip accidents, and that there is a risk of delays and canceled departures in public transport and flights.
It has been colder than usual for the season since last week, which is due to high pressure over the Atlantic cooperating with a low pressure east of Sweden. This has caused cold air to be sucked down over the country from the north for a longer period.
But that weather condition is about to change, and there is heat in sight.
– Until Sunday we have a low pressure that moves north over the North Sea towards the Norwegian Sea, it is accompanied by milder air from the south. It will feel more spring-like next week, it suits Valborg well, says Emma Härenstam.
It will be warm over southern Sweden already this weekend, with around 15 degrees up to Småland on Sunday. From Monday, the spring heat has reached the Stockholm area, and from Tuesday it will reach Hälsingland and north of it.
