In the Stockholm region, the police have identified 48 criminal networks according to information given to Aftonbladet.

Of them, 16 are new.

Here are five points about Aftonbladet’s mapping of the gangs in the capital region.

arrow With the help of public documents and source information, Aftonbladet has mapped all known criminal networks in the Stockholm region. In total, it is about 48 criminal networks that operate in different ways and strike fear in Stockholm, according to the police. According to the police’s assessment, around 1,250 individuals are connected to the various groupings. Only 20 of them are women.

arrow Among the networks, 16 are new on the police’s radar and several of them stand out. Among other things, the police have called in a network consisting of brokers and economists.

arrow Six of the networks are assessed as particularly threatening to society. The police assess the groups on the basis of their financial ability, violent capital, organizational ability and ability to threaten society.

arrow Several previous networks have been excluded in the mapping. The reason is that many of them have been dissolved, or are deemed to be dormant. According to the police, one of them is Shottaz.

arrow In the review, Aftonbladet has mapped how the gangs use banking apps such as Revolut and Wise to launder money.
