The Svea Court of Appeal has today upheld the judgment from the Attunda district court where a woman was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder and attempted murder of her two children.
The district court concluded that the woman had the direct intention to kill her daughter and that she also intended to kill her son when she used violence against him. The district court also concluded that the woman did not suffer from a serious mental disorder at the time of the acts and that she did not have a reduced ability to control her actions due to any other mental disorder. The district court decided the sentence to life imprisonment. The son and the children’s father received the damages they requested. The Court of Appeal, which saw no reason to supplement the forensic psychiatric examination carried out in the district court, has made the same assessments. The Court of Appeal therefore affirms the district court’s judgment.
The Court of Appeal agrees with its assessment.
