The men have been charged with attempted murder of four police officers, aggravated sabotage against blue light operations and aggravated weapons offenses as well as aggravated unlawful threats.

The car chase itself began when the police were supposed to check the red Kian that the men were in. Instead, the men start tearing up and open fire with k-pist at the police officers along the road.

In March, the case went to prosecution and now the verdict is coming against the 19-year-old and the 24-year-old.

The 19-year-old is convicted of serious threat to an official, serious blue light sabotage and serious weapons offense and is sentenced to six years in prison.

The 24-year-old is sentenced to four years in prison for aggravated blue light sabotage, aggravated weapons offense and aiding and abetting a serious threat to an official.

Acquitted of attempted murder

However, they are acquitted of attempted murder as the district court does not consider it proven that their intention was to kill the police officers. The District Court writes that the investigation in the case was not sufficient for it to be considered beyond reasonable doubt that the 19-year-old, who fired several shots with a submachine gun in connection with fleeing by car from the police, has directed the shots at subsequent four policemen in two police cars.

The district court considers that the men did not “act with the intention of killing the subsequent police officers, which is why they are not convicted of attempted murder”.

“Escaped easily”

– It is about extremely serious crime that we have been spared from here in Östersund. They got away with it. The positive thing is that the district court understood that it had been an upsetting experience and thus sentenced a fairly large amount of damages, says the police’s lawyer Andreas Victor.
