The healthcare union’s blockade includes overtime, overtime and new hires. Louise Tönnies and her colleagues are now hoping for a change.

– It should go around that we work the shifts we are required to work according to our employment contract, says Louise Tönnies, who is a nurse at the orthopedic clinic in Lund and often needs to work overtime.

Pia Lundbom, director of health and medical care at Region Skåne, believes that it can be tough if the blockade lasts for a longer time.

– If this were to be very long-term, we will conduct the highest priority care. Then we will gradually have to scale back the planned activities and that affects our patients, says Pia Lundbom.

Unsustainable load

The background to the conflict relates to several demands from the Vårdförbundet, which neither the employers’ organization Sobona nor SKR want to agree to.

In healthcare, the workload is considered unsustainable. The union demands, among other things, more time for recovery and fewer evening and weekend shifts.

The blockade means that Vårdförbundet’s members must not work overtime or overtime.
