True Finns party secretary Harri Vuorenpää confirms to Finnish media that the man, who is in his 50s, is believed to have been involved in a shooting in the capital on Friday night.

“It is very unclear what happened,” writes Vuorenpää on X.

The shooting is said to have occurred when the suspect and another member of parliament left a nightclub in Helsinki, writes Seiska, who first reported on the incident. The man is a policeman by profession.

The True Finns’ party leader Riikka Purra calls the incident “very serious”, writes news agency STT.
