The World Cup competition in Leipzig came to an ugly end.

SVT interrupted its live broadcast when a team of horses ran over a girl during the award ceremony.

“The child was shocked, but not seriously injured” announces Kirsten Maier, press officer for the World Cup competition to Sportbladet.

Five children lined up during the award ceremony at the World Cup Show Jumping in Leipzig, Germany.

A team of four horses and a wagon passed behind them when one of the children, a girl, was struck by one of the horses and fell to the ground.

Then the cart rolled over her.

Broke the TV broadcast

SVT, which broadcasts the competitions live, then chose to cut to the channel’s television studio instead.

– The girl gets help directly inside the arena. Scary pictures from the award ceremony. We choose to leave the arena and hope it goes well, says host Maria Wallberg.

No serious injuries

A moment later came reassuring news.

“The child was shocked, but suffered no serious injuries apart from some bruises on the arms and legs”writes Kirsten Maier, press officer for the World Cup competition in an SMS to Sportbladet.

The award ceremony was temporarily suspended.
