Anna Sandberg has been setting the tone in BK Häcken this season and also took a place in the summer WC squad which led to a bronze.
But before Sunday’s match against Djurgården, Häcken announced that the 20-year-old suffered a tear in his calf. Later, Sandberg was also forced to withdraw his invitation to the ongoing national team gathering.
Blågult has not yet called in a replacement, but will do so before Friday’s match against Spain.
– We will bring in a player there. We are waiting at the moment, but will fill up before Friday, says union captain Peter Gerhardsson.
Why have you chosen to wait?
– There are a few different reasons and I will come back to that. We’ll see, but we’ll bring someone in.
On Monday, the collection’s first training session was held at Ullevi in Gothenburg. About the situation in the squad, Gerhardsson says:
– Some played training matches yesterday (with their club teams), so today it was just a matter of following up, seeing how they are and checking everything. It looked lively in training and at the moment all 22 who are here should now be playable. It is Anna Sandberg who unfortunately was not deemed fit for these two matches.
Madelen Janogy missed Hammarby’s match against IFK Kalmar this weekend due to an injury, but was on the training pitch at Ullevi.
– She was training now and looked energetic. Then of course we will have to improve her in training, but at the moment it is positive that she was involved, concludes the national team captain.
