NEW YORK. Filip Forsberg knows how to score in the playoffs too.

He stood for pure dream cone when Nashville evened their series against the Canucks in Vancouver last night.

– It was a special one away from home at the Åkerö rink, says the 29-year-old mas to Sportbladet after the 4-1 victory.

Filip Forsberg scored 48 hits during the regular season – the best Swedish record in over 20 years – and after such good performances, it is of course expected to continue in the same way when it really matters.

No problems for “Masen with the Mustache”, it turned out in the second round between the Predators and the Canucks in Rogers Arena last night.

Six and a half minutes into the second period, he scored a goal only shooters with wrists of divine caliber can manage. He received the puck from fellow countryman Gustav Nyquist behind Vancouver’s box, made a tight arc towards the goal court, made some lightning-quick feints and stopped up the puck into the roof of the net.

“What we just saw was unbelievable,” exclaimed the television channel ESPN’s commentators.

– Yes, it was quite nice. It was a special one from home at the Åkerö rink, says Filip when we talk to him afterwards.

– Sometimes you have to resort to the oldest tricks, hehe. But above all, it was nice to get a goal in that situation. It was important.

It meant that Nashville went up to a 2-0 lead and soon after Colton Sissons increased it to 3-0 – and thus the game was effectively decided.

Nikita Zadorov did manage to reduce at the end of the middle act, but in the third the visitors effectively closed the match and with two minutes remaining, Kiefer Sherwood was able to make it 4-1 in an empty net.

– It was hard and even, just like in the first match. But we played really good defense tonight and blocked a lot of shots. That was the key, continues the artist from Åkerö.

– Of course, it feels good to be able to split away from home, especially after the loss in the first game. Now it will be a lot of fun to come home. There is usually a great atmosphere in the Bridgestone Arena during playoff matches and it has been a while since we experienced it. I am really looking forward to it.

On the losing side was Elias Pettersson – among other things after he burned a great opportunity when he had an open goal. After the match, he took great responsibility for the result.

– I am always my own worst critic. I take a large part of the blame for this, he says according to TSN.

The Canucks had to do without star goaltender Thatcher Demko last night – and probably for the rest of the day. He was injured in the first game and, according to information in Western Canada, may be out for the rest of the series. Instead, the team now has to rely on Casey DeSmith, a far less solid piece.

It is also tied between the Colorado Avalanche and the Winnipeg Jets.

It looked like the Jets were on their way to another triumph when Swedish dolman David Gustafsson made it 1-0 at the start of the opening period – and likewise when Mark Scheifele made it 2-1 in the second period and for a few moments the home team had all the momentum .

But the Avs — who were visited on the ice by their injured captain Gabriel Landeskog during Tuesday’s morning warm-up — were sharper and more determined, going 5-2 before the night was over.

Finn Artturi Lehkonen was responsible for goals and assists and heavily criticized goalkeeper Alexandar Georgiev got revenge with 28 saves.
