Is the title fight over now?

After 0–2 in the derby against Everton, Liverpool are in any case really bad.

– I can only apologise, says coach Jürgen Klopp to Sky Sports.

Liverpool have started to slip at the top of the Premier League at the wrong time.

After the heavy loss away to Everton, the league title has slipped away more and more. With four rounds now, Liverpool are three points up on league leaders Arsenal. Meanwhile, Manchester City are only one point behind with two games to play.

Team captain Virgil van Dijk was very disappointed afterwards.

– I think everyone has to look in the mirror, look at their own performance and whether they really gave it their all. Do they really want to win the league?, he tells Sky Sports and continues?

– We are fighting and there are matches to be played in the future. But if we play like today where we don’t win duels and give the referee the opportunity to blow free kicks like he did so many times, then you have no chance of winning a title.

Apologize

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is well aware that it will be very tough to win the league in his last season as manager.

– I can only apologize to everyone who supports us. It is hard for us but very hard for the supporters, he says.

To The Telegraph, Klopp says:

– It wasn’t good enough today. I really feel for the people and I am very sorry.

They will not win any league and there will be no more titles for Jürgen Klopp, says Erik Niva.

In the derby against Everton, things started to go wrong in the first half. After some chaos in Liverpool’s penalty area, Jarrad Branthwaite made it 1-0 in the 27th minute of the match.

In the 58th minute came the next cold shower when Dominic Calvert-Lewin got on top of a corner and headed in 2-0.

Pole hit

However, Liverpool were close, for example Luis Diaz had a neat ball in the post in the 69th minute.

But that didn’t work at all.

The match ended 2–0 in Everton’s favour, which thus took a big step in the pursuit of a secured contract.

Liverpool, in turn, must try to win the rest of the league matches, while the team must hope that Arsenal and Manchester City begin to slip.

It is the first time Everton have won against Liverpool at Goodison Park at home since October 2010.
