William Nylander missed Game 3 of the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins. The Toronto forward is out with an unspecified injury.

Nylander has not yet played in the series, but was part of the team’s morning warm-up in a chain with Calle Järnkrok and Pontus Holmberg. After morning warmups, Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe said “there was a chance” Nylander could play. But he never came to play.

Toronto lost the game 2-4 and is 1-2 in games. Match 4 is played on Saturday.

– I’ve been asked a few times now about how to adjust without “Willy”, but you don’t really do that, says Sheldon Keefe. You just push on. We have a game plan and when “Willy” comes back it doesn’t change. The way you have to play and what it takes to compete and win this time of year is the same no matter who is playing.

Nylander scored 98 points (40+58) in 82 games in the regular season and finished second in the team’s internal scoring after Auston Matthews, and tenth overall in the NHL’s scoring.
