Times: Chelsea’s demands – for Pochettino to stay
--

Chelsea have had another tough season, and in early March English newspaper The Guardian stated that the London club had begun looking at replacements for manager Mauricio Pochettino, with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi and Sporting’s Ruben Amorim mentioned as potential options. At the same time, the newspaper wrote that Chelsea did not want to make any hasty decisions there and then, and that there was some support for Pochettino.

Now the English newspaper The Times comes with new information about the coach’s future.

According to the newspaper, Pochettino’s future is uncertain – after Saturday’s FA Cup exit against Manchester City and Tuesday’s 5-0 loss against Arsenal in the Premier League. For Pochettino, securing European games is now said to be a key factor in order to keep his job until next season.

The English newspaper At the same time, the Daily Telegraph also has information that Pochettino is not safe, while the Daily Mail writes that the club management risks one backlash from the dressing room if Pochettino is fired, as the coach is said to have support in the squad. The Sun also writes that there could be a rebellion from players – if the coach is allowed to leave.

The Argentine took over Chelsea last summer, and also has a background as coach at Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham, Southampton and Espanyol. He has a contract until 2025.

Chelsea are currently in ninth place, six points ahead of Manchester United in sixth place in the Premier League.
