Thomas Ericsson, project manager for the Professional Championship and industry developer at Transportföretagen, comments on this year’s competitions:
– Firstly, I think we have assembled a fantastic group of competitors with an incredibly positive attitude towards both the competition and their professions. They are great ambassadors. It has also been noticed in the community that arose among the contestants during these days.
– Secondly, they have shown great commitment and taken on the challenges with enthusiasm. Then you also have to bear in mind that many of this year’s competition events have been really difficult. Despite it being a competition, the competitors have shown great team spirit in their respective branches.
The Vocational Championship is arranged every two years and started back in 2004. The purpose is to showcase the career paths that exist and to increase the status, interest and attractiveness of vocational training. Last time the event was held in Växjö and was visited by over 22,000 people, this year the number of visitors is heading towards a new record.
Thomas Ericsson is also satisfied with this year’s arrangement.
– Making such a large arrangement work requires a team effort and there are many who have contributed to making it a reality. It is about everything from the logistics and technology on site to taking care of both those who compete and those who visit the Professional Championships. I would not least like to highlight our main judges who are responsible for planning the competition moments within each profession.
The Vocational Championship is Sweden’s largest vocational competition and is organized by WorldSkills Sweden. WorldSkills Sweden is a tripartite collaboration between LO, Swedish Business and the State through the Ministry of Education, the Norwegian School Agency and the Authority for the University of Applied Sciences.
The motor industry’s professional competitions are financed by Transportföretagen and IF Metall as well as Målarna.
