The numbers are better than ever.
Now Norway sends a pass to Sweden in the audience battle during the ice hockey final series.
– Things were not better before, says Vegard Jensen Hagen on TV2.
Six years after the last championship title, Storhamar managed to break the curse and the 40-year-old icon Patrick Thoresen had to lift the trophy.
But the Norwegians are also beating their chests for other reasons after the Swedes Andreas Hjelm and Jacob Berglund had to take the title.
Namely, they set a record for audience average during the final series, as the 30,986 people who saw the finals make up an average of 6,197 people. When they celebrate it, they compare themselves to Sweden and send a pass in Sweden’s direction.
“The spectator average in the Norwegian finals even looks to be higher than what the ice hockey nation Sweden is able to show in the SC finals”, the Norwegians write.

The advantage: A Norwegian detail
– It is with joy that we see that the numbers are connected, it is not cannibalism but it is a huge lift. Ice hockey is breaking boundaries and setting records for finals, playoffs and regular season this year. Things were not better before, because they have never been better than now. It is thanks to everyone involved in the clubs, they should be proud of how they raise interest in Norwegian ice hockey, says Vegard Jensen Hagen on TV2.
A major factor that comes into play? The capacity of the arenas.
Rögle’s home arena, Catena arena in Ängelholm, holds approximately 6,300 people and Skellefteå Kraft arena 5,800 people. This to compare with CC Amfi in Hamar for 7,500 people and Vålerengas Jordal Amfi for 5,300 people.
