YIF took theirs into the playoff bubble: “For me, this was a crossroads”

Ystads IF tied the quarter-final series at 1-1 in games after defeating Önnered away with 29-25.
A miles-wide difference in the effort compared to the nine-ball cod at home the day before yesterday.
– It feels like we were in the playoffs now, says coach Oscar Carlén.

After the humiliation at home on Tuesday, it is a completely different YIF that flexed its muscles in the ÖHK hall. A hall that is not approved for the SC final, but which now probably seems like a non-issue.
After a minor, at least temporary, identity crisis, YIF has found its way back to itself.
– We were not satisfied with the effort at home in front of 2,200 spectators. It feels like a series lull in the tension, grumbles Carlén.
– It was not approved then. Now the feeling was there, everyone was tougher in the duels.
How can it be so?
– Hard question. We must be able to step into the “bubble” already in match one. Now it’s just over a week until the next match and then it’s up to us to keep the feeling!
Carlén mentions that there are certain characters in the group who set the mood.
– Some players have a greater influence on other players. As a coach, you try to inject something into the group that will take fire, but within the group there must also be players who show the way. And they have done that.

Do you change as a leader in the situations you were in before this match?
– After the last match, then I scolded… I am an emotional person and then there were things in me that needed to come out, both for my own sake and for the sake of the team. Not because I’m some “Noka” Serdarušić (legendary coach in Kiel who had…. attitude), but I’m not softy either.
How do you see the future?
– For me, this was a crossroads. We showed as a team what we want with this playoff. Either you can continue to slow down and play at 80 percent, or you show that you want to go to the final and buy the gold again. Tomorrow we will get together to cement that feeling and keep the boat tight and then take a weekend.

YIF tied the match final series at 1-1 and now has home field advantage again. The next match will be played in Ystad Arena on Friday, May 3.
